Today, we are surrounded by so much gloom and doom with the COVID-19 pandemic. Stories of death, fear, factories shutting down, families being forced together under the same roof for days on end, and so many other things that are causing people to panic and have anxiety. What do we do? Will we make it? How do I survive without being able to go like I used to? What am I to do now? So many questions.
You may be like one child who exclaimed, "I can't go to church to see my friends, I can't have anyone over, I can't go to the store, I can't see anyone or go anywhere, my life has been ruined!" Many adults feel that way. We go on stressed about all the implications of COVID-19 on our personal goals, family, jobs, and life in general. Many people are fighting depression, pastors are exhausted, nurses, doctors are all worn out, police are stressed, politicians are even visibly wearing down.
Pastor's are all saying, "Christian, don't be afraid, don't worry, trust in the Lord." This is a true statement but one question arises, "HOW?" How can I be unafraid when the media keeps posting stories of death, sorrow, and constant heartache? How can I not worry when I have been laid off and my bills are still due? How can I trust in the Lord when I am not able to see my family because I have been isolated, I have no one to talk to because I am a widow or widower and no one in my home with me, I am of the older generation that is at high risk? How, How, How? This is the question. I come to with good news, there is a way. First, hear a couple of testimonies that may encourage you...
Psalm 37:25: "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
Psalm 68:19: "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah."
Here is the "How" from God's Word sent to us from God Himself...
1 Peter 5:7: "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
Matthew 11:28: "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Romans 8:15: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."
That's it! That's the answer! RUN to God! Be childlike!
My children are not worried about COVID-19 or the aftermath. My children are not worried about the empty grocery stores. My children are not worried about all the fear in the world right now. Why? Because they are young, they trust that mom and dad will protect and provide for them. My older children may be inconvenienced because they understand what is going on, but they are not defeated discouraged, or panicked, they trust. My littlest ones aren't even inconvenienced. They don't know better, they just live life, happy in knowing that they are fed, sheltered, clothed, protected, and loved.
Oh, that we would crawl into the lap of our loving Abba, Father and trust that He will feed us, shelter us, cloth us, protect us, and love us. Biblical reality begs the question, "Knowing that our Abba, Father is going to do all these things for us, why fret, fear, worry, stress?"
Realize child of God all that your Father has done, is doing, and will do for you and have a BLESSED day not a STRESSED day!
