Scripture: Amos 8:11-12 - Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: (12) And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
Thought – While this passage is to the children of Israel, we see the same thing happening in America today as what Amos prophesied would happen to God’s people. There is a great famine today. The New Testament tells us of the great falling away from the truth of the scriptures and biblical preaching and teaching that we are experiencing now. Does this mean that we give up? Do we just try to hold on and do the best we can? Should we simply try to simply survive in such a wicked world? The biblical answer to these questions is a resounding, emphatic “No.” We have been commanded to preach the gospel to every creature. We have been told to endure hardness as a good soldier. We have been told to “Occupy” until our savior returns. We have been told to go work in the fields. There is an old song that says, “My house is full, but my field is empty…” The truth is that His house is no longer full nor are his fields empty. The church has seemingly retreated into our own “Safety nets”. Yes, there is a great famine, but that only means we need to take the Bread and Water of Life to the starving people. We have the food, let us go and distribute it to the hungry. If we can only work together as a cohort, we can accomplish more, stay encouraged to be faithful, have help keeping our eyes on Jesus, and have the support of close family and friends.

Getting to know the Bishop:
One of the purposes of this update is to get to know me outside the pulpit. I’m open to funny, crazy, or serious questions. I would love to share myself more with you.
My kids have told me I should write a book with my one liners in it. I don’t know which one they hate worst; would you ask them for me? Here are my top 3 favorites: 1. “Almost done is not done.” 2. “That’s the problem, what’s the solution?”” 3. “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”
In the works:
This month we are finalizing all the things we need for Three Days’ club.
We are beginning to plan for a churchwide picknick coming up in June.
We are getting closer to Corban’s graduation trip. We will be gone for about 10 days.
We will be talking to some people to help fill in places while we are gone.
We are making lists of people to visit and how we can be a blessing to people of the church and visitors who have stopped by.
We are working on meeting with more people in the church. The plan is to meet with every person, either personally or in smaller groups to get valuable feedback on what we are currently doing and what can be done in and through the church.
FEEL FREE SHARE THIS WITH OTHERS – THE MORE THE MERRIER
As always, your valuable feedback is greatly appreciated. May we have a God filled, God honoring week!
