So Little Time

Where has time gone? I wake up in the morning and before I know it I am going to bed wondering what has happened to my day. I am constantly trying to accomplish everything on my list of things to get accomplished for one day, yet I can't think of a day where I actually get everything done.

We all have 24 hrs. in a day, so why is it that some people are able to get things done that others can't? As I have given some thought to this, I believe the answer comes down to two things that people - including me - don't like to hear. First, is priority and second is discipline.

If we prioritize what we have going on in our lives it is a very real possibility that we may have to set aside some things we enjoy doing so we can accomplish what needs to be accomplished. Many people claim that God is their priority but turn around and do everything in life except following God. They will make sure to accomplish things needed to move them further in this life, which is only a vapor, and do nothing or very little to accomplish anything for eternity.

The Bible tells us:

(Psalms 39:5) Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

(James 4:14) Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Our time on this Earth is so short yet we focus so much on making sure we are ready for our vapor. It is like boiling water and preparing to make sure the vapor from the boiling water is the right temperature, the best quality vapor anyone could have, or that the vapor makes it as far as it can before it vanishes.

I know it sounds crazy but that is what we do when we focus our attention on this life trying to make sure we are comfortable and have the best quality of life in our short time on this Earth. The challenge today is to take our focus off of this handbreadth, vapor and turn our full and complete attention and affections on things above, things that will last.

(Colossians 3:2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

(Matthew 6:19-20) Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20) But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
