Too Stressed to be Blessed

You've probably heard the saying, "Too blessed to be stressed." My question is how often do we spend time doing the exact opposite? We're too stressed to be blessed. Proverbs 17:1 tells us that it's better to have one dried up bit of meat and peace than to have an abundance and strife or stress. How often do we discard our blessing? Or blunt the joy and peace God graciously offers us stressing about things? In a biological context stress is a physical, mental, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension.. Not only does worrying (stressing) about things dampen our spiritual being it also causes physical symptoms. Stress kills brain cells and  lowers your immune system. What does the Bible say we should do instead of Stress?  Psalm 34:1, " I will bless the LORD at all times:his praise shall continually be in my mouth." Praise God consistently and continuously.  If we're speaking about the good things it is hard to think about the bad things. Ephesians 5:20, " Giving thanks always for all things into God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." We are all so abundantly blessed (John 1:16), all we have to do is take the time to notice it. Next time you start feeling too stressed to be blessed, I encourage you to follow the old hymn and "count your blessings, name them one by one; count your blessings, see what God hath done."
